Burns Middle School will be running a food drive for "Feeding The Gulf Coast" starting 9/14/2026 & closing out 9/30/2026 .
Feeding the Gulf Coast is working to lower childhood hunger along the central Gulf Coast. With rising grocery costs, it is more important than ever to provide for those facing food insecurity. Hunger inhibits a child's ability to thrive. Hunger may impact a child’s school performance. Research suggests that children who do not know when their next meal will be served tend to have lower math scores, higher rates of grade repetition, and other issues. Proper nutrition helps children grow, develop, and focus. Being able to concentrate in the classroom is essential for children to succeed in school. We are striving to answer the call to their mission through our school community and student body!!

Grandparents’ Day Lunch Announcement: Calling All Grandparents!!
We cordially invite our Grandparents to have lunch with our students and celebrate the special role grandparents play in the lives of our students and school community!! A hard copy of this information will be coming home with students. Please see the schedule for time and details for each grade level. Payment will need to be returned along with the bottom half of the form by September 11th, so that we will be able to get a count of how many grandparents plan to attend.

Burns Middle School opened up football season with an impressive game at Saraland last night!! The Blazers had them on the ropes until the very end! It's going to be a great season at BMS!! Level Up!!

Hello, my name is Tatyana Reid-Dixon and I am so excited to serve as the Parent Organizer at Burn Middle School!! I have over 10 years of experience in Childhood Development, hold a degree in Education, and I'm currently pursuing a degree in Psychology. This will be my second year with MCPSS, and I bring amazing knowledge in family engagement and parent relationships. Dr. David Maxwell joins the Burns Trailblazers with 25 years of experience in education, including 10 years with MCPSS. Having served most recently as Assistant Principal at Theodore High School, Dr. Maxwell is excited to share his broad experience to help prepare students not only for high school but for success beyond the classroom.
An honorably discharged Navy veteran, Dr. Maxwell is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Though you will often find him shopping or dining somewhere in Mobile, he and his wife enjoy traveling, cooking at home, and spending time with family. Dr. Maxwell is happy to be a part of the Burns Trailblazer Family. Go Blazers!

Reminder - Our Open House is tonight from 5:30 - 7:00. We will begin in the gymnasium with our Title 1 meeting then afterwards our parents will get to meet each of their child's teachers. Parents also need to sign the parent compact if you did not do so during registration. You will be able to sign the compact in your child's home room tonight. We look forward to visiting with all our parents.

School pictures are tomorrow. Students will take their picture in their school uniform. Also, Open House is tomorrow from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. We will start in the gymnasium at 5:30 with our Title 1 parent meeting then afterwards parents will follow a mock schedule of their student's day where parents can meet each of their child's teachers. We look forward to all parents attending this informative event.

We would like to take a moment to recognize 2 phenomenal ladies in our building for all that they do for our students, faculty, and staff as they face their own individual challenges along the way. We appreciate you Mrs. Mose-Lofton and Ms. York!!
